He married Elizabeth Wheeler, daughter of John Wheeler and Elizabeth (?), circa 1625 in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England.2 He was, according to many family histories, married to Phoebe Barrett rather than Elizabeth Wheeler. This perpetuates an error made by a nineteenth century genealogist and has no basis in fact, as amply proven by more recent (and competent) genealogists. He married Ann Johns (?) on 25 July 1660 in Southampton, Suffolk county, New York. He died on 27 August 1678 in Southampton at age 85.1
