     Hiram Evermont Carnahan was born on 14 January 1842 in Madisonville, Hopkins county, Kentucky.1 He was the son of John Mason Carnahan and Elizabeth Ann Cardwell. He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Hopkins county, Kentucky, in the household of his parents, John Mason Carnahan and Elizabeth Ann Carnahan.2 He appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Madisonville in the household of his parents, John Mason Carnahan and Ruth Elizabeth Carnahan.3 He lived near Hopkinsville KY in 1861; in Washington, IL in 1866. He began military service on 26 July 1862 with Company A of the 86th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry. On August 9, 1864, Private Carnahan was wounded at Atlanta and he spent the rest of the war in army hospitals.4 He married Caroline Turner on 15 August 1873 in Arkansas.5,4 He was a farmer in 1900 in Oklahoma. In 1920 Hiram Evermont Carnahan and Caroline Carnahan lived in 1208 2nd Street, Havre, Hill county, Montana.6 He died on 16 April 1923 in Durfur, Wasco county, Oregon, at age 81.1 He was buried in IOOF Cemetery, Durfur, Wasco county, Oregon.1

Cardwell and Nancy Egbert, on 27 October 1829 in Hopkins county, Kentucky; Elizabeth had just turned 14.2 He and Elizabeth Ann Carnahan appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Hopkins county, Kentucky, enumerated 8 April 1850. Their children Francis, William, Hiram, Hadica and Uriah were listed as living with them.3 He married Ruth Elizabeth Kimsey on 14 November 1858 in Crittenden county, Kentucky; she was 16, he was 50.4 He and Ruth Elizabeth Carnahan appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of Madisonville, Hopkins county, Kentucky, enumerated 13 August 1860. Their children John, Uriah, Easter, Mary and Hiram were listed as living with them.5 He and Ruth Elizabeth Carnahan appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Hopkins county, Kentucky, enumerated 1 June 1880. Their children Mary, Benjamin, Sarah, Denolus, Julia, Lucy, Alfred and Johnson were listed as living with them.6 He died on 17 December 1883 at age 74.1 He was buried in Browder Cemetery, Hopkins county, Kentucky.7
