James Wakefield

M, d. 25 October 1707
     James Wakefield was the son of John Wakefield and Elizabeth Littlefield. He was granted 100 acres in Kennebunk in 1699. He married Rebecca Gibbons, daughter of James Gibbons and Unknown Lewis, before 1700. He died on 25 October 1707 in Wells, York county, Maine; drowned with brother William, Moses and Job Littlefield and Joseph Storer, jr., on October 25, 1707 when their fishing sloop was overturned.

John Wakefield

M, b. 1616, d. 15 February 1674
     John Wakefield was born in 1616 in Yorkshire, England.1,2 He probably came to America around 1636, settling first in Marblehead, Massachusetts, then settled in Wells, Maine, where he served as commissioner and selectman. He married Elizabeth Littlefield, daughter of Edmund Littlefield and Annis (?). He died on 15 February 1674 in Wells, York county, Maine.2 He was buried in Biddeford, York county, Maine.

Nathan Godfrey Wakefield

M, b. 8 January 1808, d. 20 May 1891
     Nathan Godfrey Wakefield was born on 8 January 1808 in Stueben, Washington county, Maine; sources say 1807, impossible if Samuel's date of birth is correct. Consider 1808 more likely.1,2 He was the son of James Wakefield and Priscilla Small. He was voted on 8 November 1864 in Cherryfield, Washington county, Maine.3 He died on 20 May 1891 in Frankfort, Benzie county, Michigan, at age 83.4 He was buried in Crystal Lake Township Cemetery North, Frankfort, Benzie county, Michigan.4

Samuel Wakefield

M, b. circa 1737
     Samuel Wakefield was a farmer. He was born circa 1737 in Kennebunk, York county, Maine.1 He was the son of Samuel Wakefield and Ruth Godfrey. He married Ruth Burbank, daughter of John Burbank and Hannah (?), on 17 November 1757.2 He served in the American Revolution, according to a number of sources. Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors refers to a Samuel Wakefield of Township No. 4 who served intermittently as a corporal in various Lincoln county units. (Maine was at that time part of Massachusetts.) Records of Deeds of Lincoln notes a mortgage given by Samuel Wakefield of No. 4 to Shaw and Gould dated January 1, 1773.3 He died in Steuben, Washington county, Maine.

Samuel Wakefield

     Samuel Wakefield was the son of James Wakefield and Rebecca Gibbons. He built the first schooner on the Mousam River and resided in Kennebunk. He was a soldier in French and Indian war. He married Ruth Godfrey circa 1736.
